GIANT MONSTER PUPPETS ATTACK OAKVILLE!
Bricoteers Puppetry Workshop
Saturday, August 15
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 pm
Ages: 8 years and up
Admission: suggested donation $10
Don't miss the market this Saturday! We’ll be making giant monster puppets with nothing more than newspaper, tape, and your imagination.
Ever see a tv show or movie with puppets and wonder "how do they do that?" This is your chance to find out from the guys who create them!
This Saturday, join James and Grey, "The Bricoteers", professional puppet masters for a four hour workshop. You'll be entertained and have lots of fun as these two characters teach us the techniques of mastering the process of monster puppet building using GARBAGE! (don't worry, it's clean trash, like newspapers, shiny paper and other fun, found things).
Why newspaper? Puppet artists sometimes use newspaper to create maquettes of puppets when developing new work. Maquettes act as working models that allow artists to express, demonstrate, or test their concepts. Plus, newspaper is recyclable, so the puppets are environmentally friendly!
Then we’ll create a story and put on a puppet show for everyone at the Market!
What to bring
• Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothing (no naked puppet making!).
• Bring your own stash of paper, shiny and colourful paper and fabric and any other things you want to incorporate into your masterpiece. We'll have lots of materials on hand too.
• Bring snacks and drinks or money to buy them at the market.
The workshop open to kids 8 years of age and up. Adults welcome.
Workshop starts at 9:00 a.m. and will run until about 1:00 pm.
Pre-registration is suggested.
