GIANT MONSTER PUPPETS ATTACK OAKVILLE!
Bricoteers Pupptery Workshop
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 pm
Ages: 8 years and up
Admission: suggested donation $10
Don't miss the market this Saturday! We’ll be making giant monster puppets with nothing more than newspaper, tape, and your imagination. Ever see a tv show or movie with puppets and wonder "how do they do that?" This is your chance to find out from the guys who create them!
This Saturday, join James and Grey, "The Bricoteers", professional puppet masters for a four hour workshop. You'll be entertained and have lots of fun as these two characters teach us the techniques of mastering the process of monster puppet building using GARBAGE! (don't worry, it's clean trash, like newspapers, shiny paper and other fun, found things).
Why newspaper? Puppet artists sometimes use newspaper to create maquettes of puppets when developing new work. Maquettes act as working models that allow artists to express, demonstrate, or test their concepts. Plus, newspaper is recyclable, so the puppets are environmentally friendly!
Then we’ll create a story and put on a puppet show for everyone at the Market!
What to bring
• Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothing (no naked puppet making!).
• Bring your own stash of paper, shiny and colourful paper and fabric and any other things you want to incorporate into your masterpiece. We'll have lots of materials on hand too.
• Bring snacks and drinks or money to buy them at the market.
The workshop open to kids 8 years of age and up. Adults welcome.
Workshop starts at 9:00 a.m. and will run until about 1:00 pm.

"SmartStax" corn that was not assessed for safety by Health Canada, GE
Wheat and Alfalfa, and new GE crops like sugarbeet. CBAN is the
Canadian Biotechnology Action Network and does research and monitoring
of GE, and coordinates campaigns to strengthen our food system and
support organics.
Not to be missed! Come and find out information you won't find anywhere else.

Free Speech Tent: Canadian Biotech Action Network (CBAN)
9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
CBAN's mission is to promote food sovereignty
and democratic decision-making on science and technology issues in
order to protect the integrity of the environment, health, food, and
the livelihoods of people in Canada and around the world by
facilitating, informing and organizing civil society action,
researching, and providing information to government for policy
development.
To achieve this CBAN works to:
– Facilitate collaborative campaigning at the local, regional, national and international levels
– Enable individual Canadians to take strategic and effective action
– Research and monitor new technologies and provide credible information
– Challenge government to transparency, accountability and democratic process
CBAN constantly researches, monitors and takes action on these priority issues:
Democracy and Government Regulation: Democratic
debate and transparent governance are key to addresssing any of the
socio-economic, ethical, environmental and safety concerns of genetic
engineering.
GE Trees CBAN is a Steering Committee Member of the
North American STOP GE Trees Campaign and is working with groups across
the world in the call for a ban on GE Trees.
GE Alfalfa
The Canadian Government has approved Monsanto’s herbicide resistant
(Roundup Ready) Alfalfa for human consumption and environmental release
but Monsanto has not yet applied for variety registration. This step is
needed before the crop can be commercially grown in Canada.
International Solidarity Canadians can play a very positive role internationally and we have a lot to learn from peasant organizing across the world.
Farm Income Crisis CBAN is committed to working with the National Farmers Union
to address the underlying causes of the current farm income crisis.
This includes work to strengthen and protect current programs that give
farmers power in the marketplace such as the Canadian Wheat Board.
Corporate Control Without our knowledge,
understanding, or consent, "life-science" conglomerates are genetically
engineering food plants for corporate profit with little concern for
our health or the effect on the environment.
